Collezione Farnesina is enriched by a new artwork: the photograph “Verso Lagosanto” (1989) a photograph by Luigi Ghirri (Scandiano, 1943 – Ronconi, 1992).
In this photograph, taken at the end of the 1980s for the series “Il profilo delle Nuvole” (1985-89), Ghirri captures the landscape of the area of Bassa Ferrarese. Suspended in time and in the warm daylight with a low hanging perspective, the landscape depicts a country road near the small community of Lagosanto in the Emilia-Romagna region.
In this exploration of the territories of the Po Valley, the Italian landscape is presented through images that are ‘simple’, without rhetoric, timeless, which make up a collection of intense lyricism, “an album of things that can be seen, indicated in the way in which they ask to be seen”, as Gianni Celati wrote.
