Undersecretary Benedetto Della Vedova is on a mission in Algiers to represent our country at the 25th edition of the International Book Fair (SILA) where Italy is a guest of honour. 1,250 exhibitors will take part in this edition, including 266 from Algeria, 324 from the Arab world and 660 from other countries, representing 36 different countries. The most recent edition in 2019 was visited by over one million people. The Farnesina, through the Italian Embassy, the Italian Cultural Institute in Algiers, and the Italian Trade Agency (ICE), in association with the Associazione Italiana Editori (AIE) (Italian publishing association), organised the first Italian business attendance at this event. The Italian stand will have books from 16 different publishers and the Italian cultural programme includes presentations from numerous Italian authors and researchers.

Today, the Undersecretary will visit the SILA headquarters along with Prime Minister Aimene Benabderrahmane and tomorrow, will open the Book Fair along with Minister of Culture and Arts, Soraya Mouloudji. Della Vedova and Mouloudji will then have a face-to-face meeting to take stock of the cultural cooperation between the two countries. The Undersecretary will also have a meeting with the Secretary-General of the Algerian Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Chakib Rachid Kaid.
