The Farnesina Collection welcomes a selection of works – “Vallemosso (Biella), Lanificio Giuseppe Botto” (1983) and “Torino, Fiat Mirafiori”(1983) – by photographer Paola Agosti (Turin 1947). The images are from the 1980s series “La donna è la macchina”, dedicated to women’s work in Italian factories such as Olivetti, Indesit, Solex or Fiat.
From the early days of her career the artist has documented social transformations, political events and key personalities of her times. She is also responsible for recording the Italian feminist movement in photographic form, a story told through marches and demonstrations, banners, and meetings at the “Casa delle Donne” in Via del Governo Vecchio. In her work, Paola Agosti has provided a historic record portraying an entire generation of women who, since the 1970s, have gained e new self-awareness.
