Atene: Falcone e Borsellino 30 anni dopo

The Italian Cultural Institute in Athens wishes to commemorate Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino 30 years after that summer that changed the history of Italy for ever. On 17 May, the theatrical performance by Claudio Fava ‘l’Ultima Estate. Falcone e Borsellino 30 anni dopo’ (The last summer. Falcone and Borsellino 30 years later) will debut, covering the last months of life of the two Palermo judges. Well-known and lesser-known facts, public and private, to describe the strength of those men, their humanity, and their profound sense of state. However, it will also show their cheerfulness, wit, rage, and especially the loneliness they suffered. The civil diary of two men, not two heroes. Shorn of celebratory trappings, Fava shows us the more authentic, prosaic sides of Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino, not to take anything from their fight, but to simply complete them as human beings. The performance is directed by Chiara Callegari with Simone Luglio and Giovanni Santangelo playing the leading roles. It features original music by Salvatore Seminatore, and will be shown at the Cacoyannis Foundation. For once stripped of ritual and myth, the two men question themselves and tell stories, discuss things between themselves and with the audience, giving it the opportunity to relive key moments of their friendship, and of the history of this country.
