The horror of the massacres of civilians at Banyas bears witness to the dramatic level that the violent Syrian conflict has reached, and which continues to annihilate innocent victims that include women and children. The spiralling humanitarian costs of the violence perpetrated by the regime have reached intolerable proportions.
As Italy awaits justice for those responsible for the massacres, it firmly condemns these hateful crimes, which once again call the international community to its duty to pursue all possible routes to the achievement of a political solution to Syrian leadership without Assad.
