Human Rights: another Iranian refugee from Camp Ashraf arrives in Italy

Within the context of the human rights initiatives promoted by Minister for Foreign Affairs, Giulio Terzi, who brought two Iranian refugees from Camp Ashraf in Iraq to Italy in early September, another Iranian woman was brought to Italy today.

“A further gesture“,Terziaffirmed, “by which we are pursuing efforts based on two specific principles: respect for the Iraqi government’s territorial sovereignty and the maximum care for the protection of the human rights of refugees”.

“We will continue to respond in a concrete manner to the United Nations appeal for a shared solution respectful of human rights in Camp Ashraf”, Terzi continued, “where we are hindered in our assistance of the refugees left in the Camp, particularly those with ties to Italy”.

The foreign ministry intends to continue to actively confront the situation in the coming weeks through its embassy in Baghdad and in conjunction with the Ministry of the Interior and the UNHCR.
