The first “Italian Education System in the World” event closes at the Farnesina
The first edition of “Italian Education System in the World” closed on 17 November 2022 with an event at the Farnesina. This initiative by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation celebrated the Italian Education System in the World, an international network of educational institutions that promotes the Italian language and culture abroad.
The main goal of the Days was to impart a new impetus to this global network, which includes 50 Italian schools (state, state-recognised and other), 92 Italian departments in international and European schools abroad, 130 language assistantships in foreign universities and over 10,000 Italian language and culture courses. The Days provided an opportunity for shared reflection and discussion on the Italian education model as an important tool for cultural diplomacy and soft power to disseminate knowledge of our country’s heritage abroad and promote its language, culture and values.
Students, teachers, school managers and university language assistants, along with experts in the sector and representatives of the Ministry of Education and Merit, met in four technical workshops to discuss strategic issues and the challenges and opportunities of the Italian educational model.
The findings of the workshops, presented by practitioners from the Italian Education System in the World and the experts involved, feed into a “vision document” that focuses on innovation in approaches to teaching and on strengthening the collaborative network linking the elements of the system.
In the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Hon. Antonio Tajani, and of the Minister of Education and Merit, Prof. Giuseppe Valditara, the logo and official video of the Italian Education System in the World were also presented.
