Following a competitive examination, he entered the diplomatic career (trade specialization) on February 15, 1990.

Back to Rome, as of June 15, 2011, he served at the Ministry reporting directly to the Director General for Political Affairs and Security.

As of July 26, 2011, he served at the Ministry reporting directly to the Director General for Development Cooperation as Head of the Secretariat for the Development Cooperation Steering Committee.

On August 8, 2011, he was appointed Head of Office VI of the Directorate General for Development Cooperation.

On January 2, 2012, he was promoted to the rank of Minister Plenipotentiary.

On August 27, 2013, he was seconded to the Ministry of Economic Development to serve as Deputy Diplomatic Advisor to the Minister.

Following a change of government, he was confirmed at the Ministry of Economic Development with the same role, 22 February 2014.

As of January 20, 2015, he served at the Ministry reporting directly to the Director General for Country Promotion.

As of 24 April 2015 he served as Commissioner General of the Italian government for EXPO Milan 2015.

As of July 18, 2017 he served at the Ministry reporting directly to the Director General for Political Affairs and Security.

On November 13, 2017 he was appointed Ambassador to Iraq.

Back to the Foreign Ministry in Rome, December 14, 2021.

He worked for SAIPEM S.p.a. as Corporate Head of International Public Affairs, December 16, 2021.

As of October 4, 2022 he served at the Ministry reporting directly to the Head of the Diplomatic Protocol

Since October 6, 2022 he has been Head of the Diplomatic Protocol.

In 2022 he was awarded the title of Grand Officer of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Italy.

He was also awarded the Order of Merit and the Order of Knighthood of various countries.
