Stefano Zanini

Minister Plenipotentiary Stefano Zanini

He was born in Catania on September 13, 1962.

He graduated in Law from the University of Padua in 1987 and joined the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1991.

After an initial assignment at the Directorate General for Development Cooperation, in 1994 he was appointed Second Secretary for Trade in Colombo.

In 1997 he served in Helsinki as First Secretary.

In 2001 he returned to the Foreign Ministry at the Directorate General for Personnel where, in 2003, he took up the post of Head of Office II.

In 2005 he was posted to Osaka as Consul General.

In 2007 he was in Stockholm as First Counsellor, and in 2010 he took up the same post in Warsaw.

He returned to Rome in 2013 to the Directorate General for Country Promotion, where he was appointed Head of Office III.

In 2015 he was appointed Deputy Head of the Diplomatic Protocol of the Republic.

Since 2019 he has been Head of the Service for Legal Affairs, Diplomatic Disputes, International Agreements and Treaties.

He is an Official Knight of the Order of Merit of the Republic.

He is fluent in English and French.
