Lima: Conference “Precolombian art and modern art. From Gauguin to Eielson”

The Italian Cultural Institute in Lima organised the conference “Precolombian Art And Modern Art. From Gauguin To Eielson”, curated by Prof. Antonio Aimi of the State University of Milan, an illustrious America scholar, who works on interpreting the sources of the pre-Columbian culture at the intersection of a variety of disciplines (history, anthropology, aesthetics and history of literature), underscoring the contribution of Andean and American cultures to contemporary art. The sessions closed with a speech by Fernando De Szyszlo, Peru’s most important artist and a key figure in the promotion of abstract art in Latin America from the 1950s onward.
