The two-wheeled leading lady that will take centre stage at the Tel Aviv Cinemateca is the “Vespa”, the most famous and photogenic scooter in the world, celebrated in an exhibition that will open to the Israeli public on 2 May. The show, mounted by the Embassy of Italy in Israel and the Italian Cultural Institute of Tel Aviv, is being curated for the Piaggio Foundation of Pontedera by Pier Marco De Santi of the University of Pisa, and tells 65 years of modern history through images of the “Vespa” and its relationship with cinema.
