The exhibition “Titian-Veronese-Tiepolo: masterpieces of Italian painting from the collection of the Accademia Carrara of Bergamo” opened on 2 June at the National Museum of Poznan, under the patronage of the Embassy of Italy in Poland. Ambassador Riccardo Guariglia attended the opening.
The exhibition of Venetian and Lombard painting masterpieces from the 15th to the 18th century opened with a message from Minister Giulio Terzi, who sits on the Board of Administration of the Bergamo academy.
“Such initiatives contribute to enhancing the cultural dimension of relations between Italy and Poland, the intensification of which is the object of a joint effort with our Polish friends in all sectors, from political dialogue to economic collaboration, contact between our respective civil societies and tourism in both directions”, the minister underscored.
Ancient and rich tradition of cultural exchanges
“Italy and Poland”, he added, “have an ancient and rich tradition of cultural exchanges, which contributed significantly to the gradual flourishing of the European civilization. A tangible and illustrious example of this is Bernardo Bellotto – represented in this exhibition with one of his most esteemed works – who, having permanently established himself in Poland, went on to produce masterpieces of exceptional beauty”.
“It is a source of authentic satisfaction, as well as great personal pride, that this exhibition has been mounted at Poznan, whose sensitive and refined audience will, I am sure, fully appreciate the extraordinary excellence of the works displayed, exactly as did the Polish patrons of the past who invited Italian artists to their courts”.
