Turin bids to host World Chamber Congress

The city of Turin is competing with Belfast, Geneva and Liverpool to host the World Chambers Congress in 2015. The bid was submitted during the visit to Turkey by the Mayor of Turin, Piero Fassino, who visited Izmir and Istanbul. The mission was oranised with support from the Italian Embassy and Consulates in Turkey and took place during the World Chambers Federation (WCF) General Council meeting in Istanbul. Fassino and the President of Turin Chamber of Commerce, Alessandro Barberis, accompanied by Ambassador Gianpaolo Scarante, officially submitted the city’s bid to organise and host the Congress.


Full programme of meetings


The Italian Embassy in Turkey organised a full programme of meetings and events, including “Turin, a City to Discover: Culture, Art, Economy, Tourism and Innovation”. The event was attended by numerous local personalities, including the Under-Secretary for Culture and Tourism, Ozgur Ozaslan, the President of Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, Murat Yalcintas, the President of the Association of Turkish Tourism Agencies (TURSAB), Basaran Ulusoy, and members of Istanbul City Council.


The initiative provided an opportunity to illustrate the features and potential of today’s Turin. The city has a strong international outlook, being the capital of Italy’s second province for exports and home to some of the most important international organisations.
