The contribution of women in diplomacy is essential to changing and revitalising the country, Minister for Foreign Affairs Giulio Terzi underscored as he spoke in Rome at the 9th Conference of Ambassadors, citing women, in particular, as an essential part of the international diplomatic network, praising their vital energy, sensitivity, experience and perspective.
168 women of a total 919 diplomats
The minister stressed the exceptional value of women’s contribution, tenacity, capacity for innovation and inclination toward sustainability, as essential to the task of building our societies’ confidence the future. As of 2011, 18% of the Foreign Service were women: 168 women out of a total 919 diplomatic functionaries.
