HATS ON FILM: TUSCAN CRAFTSMANSHIP IN LOS ANGELES

The “Hats on Film” exhibition, a celebration of Italian style and craftsmanship, opens at the Italian Cultural Institute in Los Angeles on 19 February 2013. The event is being promoted by the “Cappello di Firenze” consortium and Artigianato e Palazzo, a fair featuring the best of Italian craftsmanship. On display will be hundreds of straw hats customised “in person” by expert stylists. A wonderful opportunity to spotlight this historic Tuscan craft for the international audience, in the run-up to Oscar night.

“Hats on film” screening

The event includes a screening of “Hats on Film”, produced by Tuscany Region’s Film Commission and featuring famous episodes from film history where a hat plays the starring role. A photography exhibition has also been organised, with historic images selected in collaboration with the Costume Gallery at Palazzo Pitti. The exhibition is one of the official events of the Year of Italian Culture in the US 2013, promoted by the Foreign Ministry.
