The Italian footwear sector is looking increasingly to the Far East, an expanding market that appreciates the high quality of our niche products. Products such as footwear, where traditional craftsmanship combines with rigorous selection of materials and highly innovative design. Starting from this premise, 37 Italian companies, most of them from the historic footwear production districts in the Marches region, took part in a mission to Seoul, where they met representatives of the Korean footwear sector at a 2-day event promoted by the Italian Footwear Association (ANCI).
Asian tour
The Korean event was part of a tour organised by ANCI in the Far East, including Japan, where an exhibition entitled “Shoes from Italy–Tokyo” was staged.
The Korean market’s keen interest in Italian footwear, especially in the high and medium-high ranges, is confirmed by ANCI’s figures. With respect to 2011, 2012 saw an increase of 29.7% in the number of units sold, and 35.6% in terms of export value, for Italian footwear exports.
