Italy-Israel: space cooperation workshop in Tel Aviv

Tel Aviv hosted a workshop on the space industry during which approximately 60 Italian and Israeli firms has an opportunity for B2B meetings. The workshop was organized by the Italian and Israeli space agencies (ASI and ISA) in collaboration with the embassies and foreign ministries of both countries and the support of the Italian Foreign Trade Institute (ICE).

The workshop sessions were opened by Italian Ambassador Francesco Maria Talò and the two space agency presidents Enrico Saggese and Ben Israel. Speakers included the Italian foreign ministry delegate for space thematics Ezio Bussoletti and the leaders of the sector business associations AIAD, AIPAS and ASAS.

Fruit of intense bilateral cooperation

The event falls within the context of intense bilateral cooperation in this sector that has led, for example, to an ASI-ISA agreement on a programme to launch the “Shalom” hyperspectral satellite system. The MFA has supported the development of these relations by sponsoring the first space conference in Haifa in 2011, dedicated to large scale industries and funding for joint projects for young Italian researchers and opportunities for study at top Israeli centres. All these activities have been made possible by a bilateral science and technology industrial agreement signed in 2000.
