A workshop was held yesterday on “Italo-Brazilian Cooperation in Infrastructure Development”. Organized by the Embassy of Italy, the workshop was attended by over 250 institutional and business world representatives from both countries (50 Brazilian firms and 70 Italian groups).
Sustainable use of resources fosters economic development
The workshop sessions were opened by Minister for the Environment Corrado Clini, who underscored the sustainable use of resources as a means for fostering economic development, offering the example of Italy in the field of high-speed transportation. ICE Present Riccardo Monti announced that the agency would be opening a new branch in Rio de Janeiro to support its existing one in Sao Paolo and to ensure continuity to efforts at promoting System Italy abroad, along with other actors.
Complementary economic systems
Ambassador of Italy to Brazil Raffaele Trombetta pointed out how one of the goals of the workshop, which falls within the Embassy’s economic diplomacy initiatives, was to highlight the major infrastructure development opportunities that Brazil offers to Italian enterprises, and the multiple points at which the two economic systems were complementary.
