Mexico – Italy participates in ANES National Solar Energy Week

Italy too attended the 15th edition of the National Week of Solar Energy (Semana Nacional de Energía Solar) in Puebla, Mexico, promoted by the National Solar Energy Association (ANES).  Emilia Giorgetti, scientific attaché at the Italian Embassy in Mexico City, made a presentation on renewable energy resources in Italy, also taking stock of the current state of scientific and technological cooperation between Italy and Mexico. The event, which ran from 17 to 21 October, was attended by many businesses from the sector, German and US diplomatic missions, and students and academicians representing Mexico’s most important institutions. During the event prizes were awarded to the winners of a contest among pre-school children and primary school students on the theme of the use of solar power. ANES is a non-profit civil society organisation whose statutory mission is to provide a debate platform in which solar energy professionals can discuss and exchange ideas and data. More generally, the platform promotes the use and spread of solar irradiance and of the ensuing indirect energy sources such as wind, biomass and hydro-power. ANES, which represents the International Solar Energy Society (ISES) in Mexico, is actively engaged in firmly and resolutely influencing Mexico’s institutional agencies that develop the country’s energy policy through well-founded scientific and technological arguments and a clear understanding of the relevance and role that different solar energy sources can play in Mexico’s future development.
