Strengthening links between the Italian and Finnish peoples and institutions and supporting the Finnish Red Cross. Those are the goals of the charity football match between the two countries’ diplomats, which will take place on Saturday 15 June in Helsinki. The match is part of the Italian-Finnish Friendship Day events.
This is the first time the Italian Diplomats Team has travelled abroad. The 16 MFA officials will be challenging their Finnish colleagues and journalists from Helsinki’s main newspaper, Ilta-Sanomat.
A number of Italian companies will also be present at the match, in Helsinki’s Olympic Stadium: FIATFinlandia, Costa Crociere, Sako Beretta, iGuzziniand Prysmian Group.
All of the expenses will be covered by the diplomats themselves and the sponsors, at no cost to the two foreign ministries.
