Brussels summit opens “Women Leaders in International Relations”

The Italian Cultural Institute of Brussels will hold “Women Leaders in International Relations” from 8 to 12 July, a summit organised by the Institute in collaboration with former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s Women in Public Service (WIPS) and the School for Advanced Public Administration Studies (SSPA). The Summit’s focus will be the presence of women in international decision-making.

Focus on women in international decision-making

The Italian Cultural Institute underscored its innovative approach over the past year to the dissemination of Italian culture and, “precisely due to the fact that we are located in Europe’s capital, we believe it is important to promote Italian expertise also in areas such as European integration and international relations. Promotion does not only mean celebrating what has been done but also offering proposals, training and opportunities. And it is from this viewpoint that we confront the theme of women in international decision-making, one that has not yet been studied systematically but which is beginning to be of interest at academic levels”. Over the course of the week, workshops will alternate with public conferences, whose participants will include noted international speakers and educators, such as European Commissioner Androulla Vassiliou and Deputy Foreign Minister and creator of “Women in Diplomacy” Marta Dassu’.
