Speaking in Rome at the conference “The new geography of Made in Italy, beyond luxury and beyond BIRCS”, Minister Emma Bonino launched an appeal to Italian big business to involve SMEs in their foreign missions. She urged them to collaborate with the foreign ministry even “when things are going well”, so as to “include” other “sector parties” such as SMEs, with the goal of boosting Made in Italy overall.
Importance of Web in promoting exports
The web’s potential as an instrument of growth, particularly in the promotion of Italian products, and the possibility of business interaction aimed at stimulating employment, were the main themes the minister confronted in a meeting with Google Vice President G. Cerf, considered one of the “fathers” of the internet. The minister and Cerf agreed on the web’s importance in increasing exports and strengthening SMEs, thereby giving them more visibility and making them more competitive.
