The Governor of Washington State, Jay Inslee, has opened the Umbragroup’s new factory in Everett, near Seattle, in the presence of the Italian Consul General in San Francisco. The new factory, which has an area of 7,000 m2, will produce components for the aeronautical sector and for aircraft flight systems. The company’s goal is to achieve sales of 50 million dollars by the end of 2015.
Umbragroup, a small multinational with headquarters in Foligno, Perugia, is a world leader in the sector. The group currently has sales amounting to 150 million euros, and about 1000 employees worldwide. Its major customers in the aeronautical sector include Boeing, Airbus, Moog, Rockwell Collins, UTC and all the major airlines. “Umbra Cuscinetti‘s new factory bears witness to the vitality of Italian industry in the aeronautical sector”, declared Consul General Mauro Battocchi, and to its capacity for internationalisation, including in technologically advanced sectors”. The Farnesina fully supports our companies’ international expansion – as witnessed by Ambassador Bisogniero’s visit to Seattle in April of this year”.
The US branch of the Group (Umbra Cuscinetti Inc) is run by an American chief executive officer, Bob Collett, with an Italian/American management team. The Group firmly believes that the development of its business is not a one-way process. “A balance must be found”, states the CEO, Walter Baldacchini, between what we export and what we invest in a country”. This investment will enable us to strengthen the group and our operations in Italy too. It will raise the profile of the ‘Made in Italy’ brand of technology and high quality”.
