Farnesina promotes digital innovation
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in the avant-garde of digital innovation and the concrete application of the Digital Administration Code, as demonstrated by how it placed in its bid for the “eGov2013” Prize: of the projects that reached the finals, six were generated by the foreign ministry – 4 in the category “internal efficiency”: Consular Services On-Line(Secoli), Mydeskincloud, Smart Visa System and Claudiae; and one each of the categories of “open data and participation” (electronic absentee vote – Vele), and “digital culture” (Social Media Hub).
Avant-garde services for citizens and businesses
The common thread running through all the projects, and the foreign ministry’s digital innovation efforts in general, is to provide avant-garde services to citizens and businesses, in all sectors. The Ministry’s “digital revolution” began in December 2008, when the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Public Administration signed an ad hoc protocol of understanding aimed at becoming a concrete instrument for the promotion of “system Italy” and the development of digital innovation and the MFA.
