Persepolis – Important archaeological discovery by Italian-Iranian team

The Italian-Iranian archaeological mission in Persepolis has announced an important find: a rectangular tower probably dating from the period of Cyrus the Great (6th century BC). Toll-e Ajur (the hill of bricks), where the tower, probably a religious building, was found, is a few kilometres from Persepolis itself. As the Italian Ambassador, Luca Giansanti, commented, “The historic and symbolic importance of these monument sites gives Italy great visibility and goodwill in Iran”. Read more, in Italian.
