Rosso Fiorentino in Paris

An exhibition on Renaissance genius Rosso Fiorentino has been organised by the Italian embassy under the high patronage of the President of the Italian Republic, in collaboration with the Commission for the Architectural and Landscape Heritage (Soprintendenza) of Florence and the Louvre Museum.

“Rosso Fiorentino: return to France”

“Rosso Fiorentino: return to France” is an exhibition of the artist’s “Sposalizio della Vergine”, a majestic painting (3.5h x 2.5w metres), along with a detailed account of its recent restoration in Italy, to offer the viewing public an opportunity to admire the science and technology of restoration, a sector in which Italy is in the avant-garde at global level.

The exhibition mounted by the embassy will be open to the public through 28 February, every day of the week except Sundays, from 10AM to 6PM, admission free, and was made possible by the support of sponsors Salini-Impregilo, Richard-Ginori and Ferrero; technical support was provided by Contemporanea Progetti, Art Defender and Arteria.

Participants at the opening of the exhibition, hosted by Ambassador Giandomenico Magliano, included Minister for Culture and Tourism Bray and French Culture Minister Filippetti.
