Diplomacy “On air” – The Consul’s job

The 16th segment of “Diplomazia e Dintorni”, a programme created and conducted by Stefano Baldi, will be concerned with the Consul’s job. The activity of foreign consulates is much more varied and complex than might be imagined, and often involves the specific interests of the country represented and those of its citizens.

The Italian Consulates

What is the difference between a consulate and an embassy? How many and where are our consulates around the world? Who can be appointed Consul? Does a consulate deal solely with emergencies or citizens in trouble? There are many questions and lesser known aspects about consular activities, which nevertheless are among diplomacy’s most specialised. Stefano Baldi’s guests this time are Caterina Gioiella and Luca Fraticelli, two young diplomats with considerable consular experience under their belts.
