Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani today welcomed the Swiss Government’s decision not to seek reimbursement of the medical expenses for the young Italians involved in the Crans-Montana tragedy, and thanked the Head of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, Ignazio Cassis, who had informed him of the decision.
The Minister, working in close coordination with Palazzo Chigi, has been following the case from the very outset, offering immediate sympathy and support to the families. Tajani emphasises that the Swiss Government’s decision confirms the value of the Italian Government’s commitment to standing by the families of the victims and the injured, and to continuing to do so. “We will continue to support calls for truth, justice and appropriate forms of solidarity and compensation, and we will work with the Swiss authorities to ensure that those responsible are held to account. We are doing this with a commitment to bring the Swiss and Italian peoples ever closer together in a spirit of mutual understanding and support, thanks to the cooperation that the two governments will be able to revitalise.”
