Exports: Vinitaly surpasses 155,000 visits, 36% foreign buyers
The Vinitaly Fair, which came to an end yesterday, solidly confirmed its leadership in the international wine sector, with an increase of 6% in vendors and a total of 155,000 visitors over its 4-day duration. The increase in the number of foreign buyers attending was impressive, up to 56,000 compared with last year’s approximately 53,000, accounting for roughly 36% of the total attendance. The highest number of visitors were from Germany, with the US coming in almost even; followed by the UK, Canada, Russia, Switzerland and Asia, with Singapore, Hong Kong and China; France placed 7th, followed by Austria and Japan. Scandinavia ranked 11th with Denmark, Sweden and Norway. Premier Renzi launched the goal of +50% for wine exports by 2020.
