The F35 fighter-bomber acquisition programme is part of a comprehensive review of the strategic needs of the Italian defence system of which the United States have been informed. The point was made by Foreign Minister Federica Mogherini during a meeting with the press in Washington DC. “As the Americans know, Italy – like all the other NATO allies – has been reviewing its National Security Strategy, which in Italy we call a “white paper’”, explained Mogherini.
