High Level Anti-Corruption Conference (MFA, 11 June 2014)

As part of the Italian-Australian co-chairmanship of the Anti-Corruption Working Group (ACWG), the 4th High Level Anti-Corruption Conference will take place at the Farnesina on 11 June 2014. The conference is being organised along with the OECD.

The event will provide an important opportunity for reflection on collaboration on this topic by G20 countries, the business world and civil society, 15 years since the OECD Convention on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials entered into force. The Conference will open with speeches by Justice Minister Orlando and the Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Benedetto Della Vedova. There will also be speeches by Chief of Staff and OECD sherpa Gabriela Ramos, Chair of the G20 Working Group on Bribery Drago Kos, and President of the Italian National Anti-Corruption Authority Raffaele Cantone.

Thematic panels

Thematic panels focused on the role of and challenges facing the G20 countries in this crucial sector will discuss the best ways to eradicate corruption in the sector of natural resources, the danger deriving from offsets in international contracts, the best mechanisms for acknowledging business efforts to conform to systems and, finally, how to counteract facilitated payments and soliciting. The sessions will end with a round table discussion of the G20 as a catalyst in the global battle against corruption.
