The process of EU integration and reforms, as well as bilateral relations, were the focus of Minister Federica Mogherini’s meetings in Serbia and Podgorica, on the final leg of her mission to the Balkans. At the end of the meeting in Belgrade with her Serbian colleague Ivica Dacic, Mogherini expressed the hope that Serbia would “continue along the path of reform and resume dialogue with Pristina” in order to accelerate its integration into the EU. The progress thus far toward full integration was the topic of a meeting with President Tomislav Nikolic, who invited Italy’s head of state Giorgio Napolitano to make a visit to Serbia.
Next intergovernmental summit
Within the context of “friendly and very close” bilateral relations, as they were defined in a Serbian government press release, at the end of Minister Mogherini’s meeting with Premier Aleksandar Vucic it was confirmed that the next intergovernmental summit would be held within the year in Belgrade. The meeting will be dedicated especially to economic collaboration, particularly in the field of energy.
