Zambia – D.R. Ferroviaria Italia to refurbish Lusaka-Ndola railway

D.R.Ferroviaria Italia s.r.l., specialist in railway construction, was awarded the project for the refurbishment of the railway line between Lusaka and Ndola, the industrial and commercial capital of the Cooperbelt mining province in the north of the country. The Zambian government’s main priorities are the rehabilitation and development of the railway infrastructure. The intention is to exploit the country’s central location as a link for regional transnational corridors, making Zambia a hub along the north-south axis (DRC, South Africa) and eat-west axis (Angola, Namibia, Tanzania, Mozambique).

The Zambian authorities are to provide a “road map” within a month’s time for the development of the railway that outlines priorities tracts and formats for collaboration (joint ventures, and PPP).
