Chile – Giro in Santiago recalls Italy’s assistance to opposers of Pinochet

At 12 o’clock noon on 3 November the Embassy of Italy in Santiago del Chile will host a ceremony recalling Italy’s role in assisting over 700 Chilean exiles after Augusto Pinochet’s 1973 coup. The event falls on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the rediscovery of the body of Lumi Videla. Present at the ceremony will be Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs Mario Giro and the Chilean authorities, as well as family members of the victim and many representatives of human rights associations.
