Washington – The concept of womanhood represented by the Virgin Mary

“Picturing Mary: Woman, Mother, Idea” is the title of an exhibition recently opened at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington with a mass celebrated by Cardinal Wuerl. The exhibition, organised as part of the American celebrations for the Italian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, will run until 12 April 2015. It includes over 60 masterpieces from the Vatican Museums, the Uffizi Gallery, the Doria Pamphili Gallery and other museums and European and American private collections. Curated by Monsignor Timothy Verdon, director of the museum of Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence, the exhibition was organised with support from our Embassy in Washington. Read more, in Italian
