Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni has reiterated the importance of the “unitary message” concerning the Ukrainian crisis sent out to Russia by the latest European Union Foreign Affairs Council. The Minister was speaking from Algiers, where he has met his Algerian opposite number.
“Moscow must use its influence – which is considerable – over the separatists and their indiscriminate attacks”, said Minister Gentiloni. The message, he stated, also means not intensifying the sanctions and inviting Ukraine to proceed with the reforms.
Forthcoming meeting with Lavrov
“I’ll be meeting the Russian foreign minister very soon”, continued Gentiloni. “I hope that the meeting will produce an awareness of the need to implement the protocols signed in Minsk by Russia, Ukraine and the pro-independence faction”.
