Russia: Saipem notified of revoked suspension of South Stream

Saipem was notified by Gazprom, through its South Stream subsidiary, of the revocation of the suspension of work and of the request to resume operations on the construction of an offshore gas pipeline in the Black Sea. Russia will begin construction on the first tract of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline alternative to South Stream, which, for the most part follows the same route, but will end up in Turkey instead of Bulgaria, to satisfy Turkey’s growing demand for gas. Russia and Turkey have agreed to begin gas supply in December 2016.
