San Francisco – The Allies in Italy in the photography of Alfonso Carrara

The Allied landing in Italy and the disorientation of the displaced populations of small towns across the peninsula as the German army withdrew and the North American troops advanced. All this in the photography of Alfonso Carrara, Italo-American attached to the American 5th Army during WWII, in an exhibition hosted through 31 July by the Italian Cultural Institute of San Francisco and entitled “Happenchance: The Allies in Italy 1942-45”.
