Australia: Premier of Victoria state proposes metro line under the Yarra River

The premier of the state of Victoria, Daniel Andrews, has announced an important infrastructure project: a metro-rail link running between South Kensington and South Yarra and avoiding the city centre. The project includes two new metro stations and two tunnels running to 9 kilometres under the bed of the Yarra River, at a depth of 11 metres. The total cost of the works is an estimated 11 billion dollars, about 7.5 billion euro. The business plan will be presented by the end of December 2015 and drilling could begin as early as 2018. More economic news, in Italian, from Sweden.
