Women daily grow, harvest, process, cook, buy and sell a variety of food products to feed their families, thus contributing to the management and conservation of agrarian biodiversity. Often they have roles, knowledge and skills that are distinct and complementary to those of men, but in the majority of cases do not enjoy the same rights of access to resources. Hence the need to draft and implement policies and interventions that take these differences into account and ensure that women are not excluded from development.
