Turkey: 14 December, call for tenders for Big Tunnel of Istanbul

The Turkish ministry of transport, maritime affairs and communication announced a 14 December call for tenders for the design of the Three-Level Big Tunnel of Istanbul, explaining that once the contract was awarded, the engineering plans would be completed within the year. The tunnel will be the first three-level tunnel in the world and will include a single metro line and a double motorway. The project is part of the 2023 Transportation Projection aimed at facilitating the flow of traffic in Istanbul. It will integrate nine urban train lines with those of a rapid metro track used by approximately 6.5 million travellers daily.
