An exchange programme for young Italian and Russian musicians and opera singers is now under way, with the first 12 participants taking part in training and “work experience” in the two countries’ most prestigious theatres and music schools. The initiative is promoted by the Italian Embassy in Moscow, led by Ambassador Cesare Maria Ragaglini. Support, in the form of 150,000 euro so far, has been provided by a Russian entrepreneur and patron of the arts. Participating theatres and schools to date are the Accademia Teatro alla Scala and the Conservatoires of Pesaro, Naples, Venice and Turin for Italy, and the Bolshoi Theatre, Mikhailovskij Theatre Galina Vishnevskaya Centre and Moscow Conservatoire for Russia.
