The capital of Sudan, Khartoum, became the capital of cinema for three days with an event promoted by Embassy of Italy in Sudan, during which author, screenwriter and director of over 70 short films Francesco Cinquemani held a workshop for aspiring young directors. Ambassador of Italy to Sudan Fabrizio Lobasso, commenting on one of the director’s latest works, The Place, described it as “symbolic of human solitude, of the desperate search for a way outside the self all the while unaware of one’s own inner prisons”.
