The governor of the State of Sao Paulo, Gerardo Alckmin, announced a major concessions plan for the State’s transport and mobility sector valued at more than 3 billion euro, naming the following priority sectors: airports, inter-urban bus lines, motorways and metro lines. The five airport concessions concerned include: Antonio Ribeiro Noronha Jr. (Itanhaem), Gasto Madeira (Ubatuba), Comandante Rolim Adolfo Amaro (Jundiai), Campo dos Amarais (Campinas) and Arthur Siqueira (Braganca Paulista), for a total investment of 22 million euro over the 30-year concession periods. The fleet of inter-urban busses to be upgraded will offer new services such as air-conditioning and Wi-Fi, for an investment of approximately 637 million euro. The largest investments are those planned for the motorway system (2.5 billion euro) and will be divided into 4 lots for a total of 2,200 kilometres. The new concession contracts will have a 30-year duration. Finally, government is asking consulting companies for technical studies on the operation and maintenance of the no. 5 (purple line) and no. 17 (gold line) metro lines. The concession will have a 30-year duration and the initial investment is estimated at 50 million euro. The studies are due in the first quarter of 2016.
