DEI – South Korea: agri-industrial cluster Foodpolis presented

Seoul hosted the presentation of the Foodpolis agri-industrial cluster, a project supported by 474 million dollars in financing that provides for the creation of an industrial complex in which all the components of the agri-industrial production line will work in synergy to develop the associated industry. Located in the city of Iksan, in the central western region of Jeollabuk, the complex will cover a surface area of 358 hectares, 232 of which will be dedicated to the industrial complex per se, and 119 of which will be given over to housing, schools, universities, commercial areas, theme parks and urban parks. The project’s goals include attracting foreign firms for the creation of basic regional strategies and forging collaboration agreements with agri-industrial clusters and R&D centres abroad. The incentives outlined, and aimed at encouraging the establishment of sector firms in the cluster, are not exclusively of a fiscal or customs tariff nature, but also aim to offer support to SMEs.
