The Italian Cultural Institute in Montevideo has marked the end of 2015 with initiatives to promote our language and culture. The first event, on 3 December, was an evening dedicated to Dante Alighieri, in the 750th year since his birth. An exhibition on “Dante, la vita, le opere, la fortuna” was opened in the presence of the Italian Ambassador in Uruguay, Gianni Piccato, and his Swiss counterpart. The evening also included a performance by Salvatore Motta, with director Geronimo Minasi, featuring Cantos I, III and V of Dante’s Inferno.
On 7 December, the students of the Italian language courses at the Institute ended the year with a party which featured theatrical and musical performances, followed by Italian food and wine. Read more, in Italian.
