Chile – New Edition Of The Santiago A Mil Theatre Festival

Chile is once again hosting Santiago a Mil, Latin America’s most important theatre festival, also with the participation of Italy. Performances will run from January 3 to 24 and will feature the world’s leading theatre companies. The festival is considered to be one of the three most prestigious festivals in the world and the number one in South America. In the festival the Italian Embassy in Santiago and the Italian Cultural Institute (IIC) will present the actor and director Romeo Castellucci (Societa Raffaello Sanzio) with the show “Julius Caesar, fragments”, on January 13 and 17. The play was staged for the first time in Bologna in March 2014.

Italy’s participation in the festival falls within the events organised for the Year of Italy in Latin America, an initiative promoted by the Italian Foreign Ministry in conjunction with the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Tourism, the Ministries of Tourism and Economic Development, the Italian Trade Commmission (ICE), the Conference of Italian University Rectors, and with the contribution of a large number of companies. Almost 200 events will showcase contemporary Italy and its cultural, economic, scientific and technological upsides, comprising an ambitious and complex project primarily aimed at highlighting the profile of Italian talent in Latin America.
