Pakistan – a likely maket for Italian agricultural machinery

Pakistan has shown a keen interest in Italian agricultural machinery since agriculture is the largest sector of the country’s economy. “Both the Italian Embassy in Islamabad and the Consulate General in Karachi will support all Italian companies intending to explore the market opportunities in Pakistan, “said Gianluca Rubagotti, Italy’s Consul General in Karachi, adding that greater collaboration would be beneficial to both countries.

The President of the Italian Trade Commission (ICE), Riccardo Monti, recently visited Pakistan and on that occasion identified agricultural machinery as one of the sectors to be further developed. Pakistan’s Finance Minister, Ishaq Dar, on his part, assured that Italian companies starting business activities in Pakistan will be offered financial facilities. Special attention was paid to partnerships in energy and agriculture and in the food, textile and automotive industry.

Last year Italy won a strong position in the agricultural machinery sector, ranking the world’s third-largest exporter with an 8.3 percent share held in a market estimated to be worth 40 billion euros.
