The Milan Furniture Fair (Salone del Mobile di Milano) is being staged in Shanghai from Nov. 19 to 21 at the 4,000 square-metre Shanghai Exhibition Centre. Italian Ambassador, Ettore Sequi, told reporters at the presentation press conference: “History, tradition, research and innovation are the key words for the success of Italian design. The Chinese market is looking for high quality products and the Chinese public demands increasingly sophisticated products. Italian companies can meet this demand and the Furniture Fair will be an opportunity to make it happen.”
President of Federlegno Arredo (Italian Federation of Wood, Cork and Furnishing Industry) and of the Milan Furniture Fair, Roberto Snaidero, said the furniture fair is not just an exhibition of furniture and furnishings, but a showcase of Italian style and production. “Today we finally realise the project” of bringing the Furniture Fair to Shanghai after a 10-year wait, Mr Snaidero said. The presentation was also attended by the heads of the Italian Trade Agency in Shanghai and Beijing, Amedeo Scarpa and Claudio Pasqualucci, David Zhong, President of VNU Exhibition Asia, a China-based joint venture of VNU Exhibitions Europe, the world’s leading exhibition organiser and partner in the event, and the CEO of Federlegno, Giovanni De Ponti.
