The yearly hearing on the 2015 State’ s Annual Report took place today at the Court of Auditors. Foreign Ministry Deputy Secretary General and head of delegation, Minister Bernardini presented the main activities carried out in 2015 and the growing challenges the Farnesina faced with decreasing resources and a strict budget.
The Foreign Ministry continued to innovate its administration through important reforms in development cooperation (with the establishment of the Development Cooperation Agency), allowances for working abroad, streamlining office security and real estate assets abroad. The Court of Auditors was presented with a description of the main services provided by our diplomatic and consular network (over 2 million visas, almost 300,000 passports issued) for an overall revenue of over 155 million euros. The delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation asked the Court of Auditors to maintain a high level of attention on foreign policy matters also when reporting to Parliament.
